Meet the Principal

 

Dr. Brown

Dr. Seymour Brown is a veteran educational leader with extensive experience spanning a variety of educational roles and specifically as an administrator and principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels.  His professional experience includes positions as a long-term substitute, classroom teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, district director and school principal. Currently serving as Principal of Brooker Creek Elementary, Dr. Brown brings a passion for high academic standards, increasing family and student engagement, improving the student and family experience and ensuring a safe learning environment where all students and staff excel.

Before joining Brooker Creek Elementary, Dr. Brown served 10 years as Pinellas County’s director of Human resources and director of Strategic Partnership.  Dr. Brown has also served as principal of three other Pinellas County Schools.

Dr. Brown holds an Educational Doctorate in and Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, and a master’s degree in Guidance from the University of South Florida and a bachelor’s degree in history education from Florida A & M University.   

Guided by the district values of connectedness, children’s families and the community, and respectful and caring relationships, Dr. Brown believes in listening with intention, leading with care, and creating a school environment where all students and staff feel seen, heard, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Outside of work Dr. Brown enjoys spending time with his wife Kim and daughters Anna and Ava.
